Greta Gets a New Lease on Life
In 2014, Andy and Maggie’s baby daughter, Greta, was dying. Diagnosed with acute lymphoblastic leukemia at just 3 months old, Greta barely survived chemotherapy and a bone marrow transplant. Now her cancer was back.
“We didn’t want her to suffer any more,” Andy said. “We found ourselves considering end-of-life care for our 1-year-old daughter.”
But then, Greta qualified for an immunotherapy trial. “Immunotherapy just made sense to us,” said Andy. “We believed it could work.”
Greta was infused with her reprogrammed T cells and just weeks later was in complete remission.
“We thought we were going to lose our daughter,”
Maggie said. “Today, she’s living a healthy, happy life.”
